A blog is great for posting reviews. Blogs can contain useful information based on peoples opinions.
The majority of blogs contain a good amount of text along with relevant images. People who write blogs share their experience with others. Blogs can also be used to advise people as well as informing at the same time.
A pointless blog is something someone wont read. . . someone isn't going to waste their time reading something that is not useful information.
I find the following blog below poor
http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/blog/
This blog doesn't really give you much preview information, apart from a small detail lacked image.
for example taking a look at the Samsung S5 page, it doesn't tell you about the actual product. it displays some very brief information on its smart watch companion device which is sold separately.

This is bad because a user that is not familiar with the phone and any of its features would be lost. on a positive note the blog has maintained a good domain name. dailaphone.co.uk (a new user would easily remember this if they wanted to visit it again) however this is highly unlikely!
Another example of a poor blog is the following
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/blog+mobilephones
A reasonable domain name but my concern is the clutter of adverts and too many graphics, if your just glancing at the blog you often mistake logos and images as spam.
This blog contains some slang jargon which most users would find difficult to follow especially the older generation. This blog contains some cryptic comments like 'blackberry's future isn't looking so rosey' younger teens might not understand the dialect. There is too much going on for me on this blog. Too many adverts in which I would often find my self misclicking and being directed to pop -ups.
disappointing seeing this coming from the guardian.*sigh*
